Logo Contest
Winner
After a hemisphere wide-contest, we are excited to announce that Daniela Portugal from La Paz, Bolivia is the 2023 Cities Summit of the Americas Logo Contest Winner!
We were excited to have the opportunity to sit down with Daniela and discuss what cities, the Cities Summit, and the Americas mean to her:
Q: What role do cities play in the Americas?
DP: They demonstrate that we can all work together, collaboratively. In the end, we are all siblings of this new continent. We can all work towards forming its new identity.
Q: What does “the Americas” look like to you?
DP: We all have diverse identities and can form one where we all fulfill our responsibilities, doing our jobs, what we know how to do best. We are a collective of jobs and histories, and must sometimes not think about the differences between the North and South and what divides us culturally and geographically.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most at Cities Summit of the Americas (CSOA)?
DP: I learned about the CSOA when researching for the logo contest. I noticed its focus was on the various cities across the hemisphere and how collectively they can work towards strengthening civil society.
Q: Do you have a favorite city?
DP: I would love to visit Bogotá in Colombia, Santiago in Chile, and Mexico City. I am also very excited to visit Denver, Colorado!
Q: What are you looking forward to most about Denver?
DP: When I realized I’d have the opportunity of visiting Denver, I started researching and learning more about the city. There are so many cool projects and organizations doing very important things in the city. I have so many questions: What is Denver’s transportation like? Its Downtown? Where do people live? What is the city like? Every city is so different.
